One Shining Moment
In Bill Simmons’ podcast yesterday (3/18), he bemoans that Obama’s NCAA tourney picks are too conservative, because Obama took the higher seed in every game but two. Simmons’ podcast guest Joe House then wondered aloud if “playing it safe” like that helped Obama become president. Simmons agreed and said he wished Bush had filled out a bracket while he was president, and that he bet Bush’s bracket would be full of risky chances, with 11 and 12 seeds making the Final Four.
Meanwhile, in political douchebag land, Repubs are apparently trying to make some hay about the idea that Obama’s filling out a bracket somehow means he isn’t concentrating on his day job (i.e. being president). Its so weird how Repubs have lost their political acumen. So many people (my dad, my friends) are discussing Obama’s bracket right now, but its his picks that they care about, not the fact that he took a couple minutes to fill it out. This story is totally positive for Obama, and the Repubs come off like whiney babies, the kind of guys who’re going to rat you out at work for watching some of the tourney at cbs.com.
